I've tried lots of combinations in the legend options of the highcharts object, however I was not able to successfully realize the exact design that the designer made.

What I need is to be able to have a legend that looks exactly like this Wanted legend layout. But the closest result that I achieved with the legend options available was this The closest legend layout I could achieve.

Maybe you can use this as a starting point. Thanks, but this is quite far from what I need. I can't use float: true, because my chart should never be covered by the legend.

In your example also, the legend isn't aligned left totally. I even used onShow and onRedraw events to manipulate the css of the legend using jQuery but with no success.

I tried testing and manipulating the CSS style of the legend on spot with firebug, but even that didn't work. No effect at all! The best I could achieve was to set the legend width, but was unable to get the width of the same size as the chart container.By using our site, you acknowledge that you have read and understand our Cookie PolicyPrivacy Policyand our Terms of Service.

Our idea was to draw a waterfall chart with unregular widths. We achieved this chart style by rendering rectangulars to the corresponding data points visible in fiddle for demonstration purposes.

Moreover, we want to add a tooltip and make this tooltip following the mouse. When you zoom very close to the chart, you will see that namely rect2 and rect3 as well as rect3 and rect4 show small gaps between the rectangulars edges.

This seems to be strange because all rectangulars have been created by the same for-loop procedure lines in fiddle. Any ideas? If you change the chart width, the gaps can vanish or occur between other rectangulars For the first and last rectangular we wanted to create individual borders. Therefore, we set up white borders to the first and last rectangulars lines 97, in fiddle and added our renderer paths dotted, solid lines afterwards lines As you can see in case of rect0 the vertical line does not cover the white border exactly, even though we used the same plot coordinates as the rectangular has.

If you change the chart width, the magnitude of the problem gets better or even worse. We rendered custom tooltips to the renderer group rectangulars, dataLabels and display these by mouseover and mouseout events. A first problem was that the tooltip disappeared when hovering the dataLabel. We made a workaround lines but we are wondering if there is a more elegant way to display the tooltip on both rects and labels.

Further, we want to make the tooltip follow the mouse movements event mousemove but we can't get this event to work on our example. We know it's a rather complex example but would appreciate all ideas that come up to you guys. Learn more. Highcharts custom renderer chart and tooltip Ask Question. Asked 6 years, 5 months ago. First of all download Highcharts framework from here: Highcharts or by using Cocoapods by adding. Please be advised that this is a development framework which contains intel architectures.

In order to submit a build to the app store you either need to remove those architectures using lipo, attach the version found in "release" folder manually or use CocoaPods.

Now add Highcharts to your project by simply copying it to your project to folder Frameworks create it if necessary and remeber to check " Copy items if needed " option. Please note when linking manually that binary framework in the 'release' directory is designed to allow uploads to the AppStore. Therefore it does not allow running on iOS Simulator. In order to use simulator, download the repository and use framework that can be found in the 'development' directory.

Cocoapods solve this problem automatically - they introduce a stripping script for AppStore uploads. The heart of a chart is HIOptions class which contains all the information needed to present it. You can see the behaviour in this simple fiddle: bar chart. Try to display a tooltip on mouse over a bar, and you will see the text of the datalabel in the tooltip background. I've also tried to set up span classes for data labels and tooltips, then add a z-index into css properties for these classes, but it's still not working.

Edit: As I'm still searching for a solution to my problem, can someone could point me the way to add a class to the bars or the datalabels of the charts?

My aim is to call a specific onclick event on this class. The solution was given on the Highcharts forum: Highcharts forum post. To do so, set the 'useHTML' property on both datalabels and tooltips, remove some defaults properties of the tooltips and setup the CSS classes in the formatters functions:.

The final step the most important is to set up the CSS rules for the highcharts-tooltip span class which is used by Highcharts to render HTML tooltips.

Notice the z-index property, which is the property that will allow the tooltip to render over the datalabel.

For a full live example, see the jsfiddle here: Custom tooltip. Note: It is not mandatory to specificy the datalabel class in the formatter for this solution to works, I just need so I can register a specific mouse event on it. See tooltip. Same kind problem was solved with this property at highslide forum.

Ok, so here is a workaround for my problem The idea is to create your own custom tooltip. Now you can just custom your tooltip by setting CSS rules for the 'tooltip' class. Yosh, I've found this 2 hours ago. I've tried it but it did not solve my problem, because the user who posted this did not use HTML datalabels.
